Does Teeth Whitening Cause White Spots on Teeth?

  • Patients may notice white spots on their teeth after a teeth whitening procedure.  So, does teeth Whitening create white spots?   Teeth Whitening works by removing stains on your teeth.  As stains are exfoliated from your teeth, you may discover white spots that may have been hidden underneath.

Should I still do teeth Whitening If I have white spots?

  • We recommend to try teeth whitening once to see if it’s the right treatment for you.  Since there are 3 sessions of 15 minutes each.  We can show you results after each 15 minutes.  If you decide the white spots are getting too bright, you should stop after just one or two sessions.  Many of our patients don’t mind the white spots on their teeth becoming a bit brighter.  It’s a personal preference.

Are there options to permanently remove White Spots from Teeth?

  • Teeth whitening does not remove white spots.  However, covering your tooth with porcelain will hide the white spots.  You may want to discuss with your dentist if Porcelain Veneers are the right option for your smile.
